Living Aligned with Christ / Guest Post by Zeke Kaebel

Recently, I felt a strong prompting to share a second part of what God has been doing in my life. What began as a personal transformation has become something I can’t keep to myself. At the center of it all is this truth: there is no greater decision you will ever make than surrendering your life to Jesus Christ.
As I’ve grown in my faith, I’ve come to understand how essential boundaries are to living a life that actually reflects that decision. Scripture continually points to the importance of guarding our hearts, our minds, and the direction of our lives. One of the most defining places this shows up is in our relationships. Over time, I’ve realized that who you walk with will shape who you become. That truth forced me to take an honest look at my own life—not just what I claimed to believe, but what my daily choices revealed.
It’s easy to say we’re living for God. It’s much harder to examine whether our lives truly align with that statement. When we consistently place ourselves in environments that lead toward compromise, compromise begins to feel normal. But when we intentionally surround ourselves with people who pursue Christ—people marked by integrity, discipline, and purpose—it begins to shape us in the same direction. Boundaries, then, are not about restriction for the sake of restriction. They are about alignment. They protect what matters most and help keep our lives anchored in truth.
Establishing those boundaries requires intentionality. It begins with spending time in God’s Word, staying connected to a local church, and choosing relationships that sharpen rather than pull you away. I’ve been incredibly blessed to grow up in a Christian home, but at some point, faith becomes personal. It moves from something you’ve been taught to something you’ve chosen to live. That shift changes everything, because you begin to see clearly that this world is temporary, but what Christ accomplished on the cross is eternal.
Following Jesus is not about earning something; it’s about receiving what has already been given. Salvation is a gift. When you place your faith in Him—believing in His death and resurrection—you step into a new identity. From that place, your life begins to change, not out of pressure or obligation, but out of genuine transformation. There is a depth of freedom and satisfaction found in Christ that nothing else can replicate.
At the same time, following Christ is not a license to live without conviction. There is a difference between receiving grace and taking it for granted. We are called to live with purpose—to reflect Christ in the way we think, act, and lead. Not perfectly, but intentionally. Not blending into the patterns of the world, but living in a way that points beyond ourselves. Our lives are meant to be a reflection of something greater.
Eventually, this becomes more than just an idea—it becomes a decision. When you step back and consider eternity, it brings clarity. The greatest moments of joy we experience here are only a glimpse of what is to come with God. And the emptiness or brokenness we’ve felt at our lowest points is only a faint picture of life apart from Him. That reality isn’t meant to overwhelm—it’s meant to bring perspective.
There is more to this life than what is temporary. More than what is visible. More than what culture tells us matters. My hope is that this encourages you to pause, reflect, and consider what you are truly building your life on.
