Finding Peace Within the Chaos / Guest Post by Cole Godfrey

Life can be chaotic. Whether you’re carrying the weight of being a husband, wife, parent, athlete, provider, employee, business owner - or all of the above - it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. We strive to lead our families well, grow in our faith, stay healthy, invest in our marriages, and pour into our kids. Somewhere along the way, the pressure builds, and we begin to feel like we’re falling short in every category.

If you’re anything like me, you get it. I’m a husband and dad to two young kids, working full time, involved in church, active in small groups, and trying to stay physically fit. There are days when the pressure to perform at work or be everything to everyone gets heavy, and I lose sight of what matters most - my relationship with Jesus Christ.

Chaos Is an Opportunity for Growth

Over the past few months, I’ve been learning to view chaos not as a disruption, but as an invitation - an opportunity for growth. Philippians 2:13 says, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” What if the challenges we face are God’s way of building us into the people He’s calling us to be?

When we replace anxious thoughts with God’s truth, we begin to find peace—even in the stress. The hard seasons might just be preparing us for something greater. Only God knows what’s on the other side.

Anchor Yourself in Christ

When I feel out of control, that’s my signal to anchor myself in Christ. No matter how busy life gets, time with God has to remain my priority. Psalm 16:8 reminds me, “I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.” And in John 15:5, Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches… apart from me you can do nothing.”

Our peace doesn’t come from productivity or performance—it comes from Jesus. He walks with us, strengthens us, and holds us steady. We don’t have to be afraid or overwhelmed because He is in control.

Pray First

Too often, prayer becomes a last resort instead of a first response. When stress hits, I’ve learned to pause and talk to God. He cares deeply for us, and He invites us to bring our burdens to Him. As it says in 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”

Instead of rushing to fix everything, I’ve been learning to be still in His presence. Prayer is where striving ends and surrender begins. I once read, “Prayer is where peace is found - not because the storm stops, but because we realize who is in the boat with us.” What a powerful reminder.

Closing Thoughts

If your life feels like it’s moving faster than you can keep up, know that you’re not alone. The weight you carry is real, but you don’t have to carry it alone. God isn’t asking you to be perfect; He’s asking you to be present with Him.

In the chaos, He offers peace. In your exhaustion, He offers rest. And in your uncertainty, He offers Himself.

So the next time you feel overwhelmed, pause. Pray. Anchor yourself in truth. And remember: God is not just working on your circumstances. He’s working in you.
